KSP: Further details released on Barren County shooting

CAVE CITY, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green is continuing the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 9 by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

According to KSP, KSP Post 3 detectives, with assistance from KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team, conducted a preliminary investigation that revealed deputies from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to complete a welfare check near Paul Clark Road in Cave City.

Upon arrival, Dillon E. Walker, 31, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, ran away on foot from his vehicle, which was located off the side of the roadway, stated authorities. Deputies located Walker in a field holding a firearm, and, after repeated loud verbal commands to drop the weapon, Walker pointed the firearm at the deputies, according to KSP. Authorities stated a deputy then discharged his agency-issued firearm, striking Walker.

KSP stated Walker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 3. No Further details have been released at this time.

CAVE CITY, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Barren County.

According to a release by KSP, KSP detectives and KSP’s critical incident response team have arrived on the scene at the request of Barren County Sheriff’s Office. KSP states the investigation remains ongoing.

A male suspect was pronounced dead by the Barren County Coroner’s Office, according to authorities. An autopsy has been scheduled at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville.

KSP stated no officers or members of the community were injured during this incident.
