KSP arrest man accused of rape from 2020 case

Whitley City, KY. – On March 2, 2022, the Kentucky State Police served an indictment warrant and made an arrest as the result of a rape investigation stemming from 2020.

A trooper began the investigation in 2020 and recently presented the case to the McCreary County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment warrant for a suspect in the case. Yesterday, KSP troopers located and arrested Dustin T. Watkins, 31, of Whitley City, in Lexington, Ky.

Watkins, who serves as an officer of the Transylvania Police Department, also served as a McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy at the time of the alleged incident leading to the arrest.

Watkins is charged with Rape, 1st degree, and has been transported to the Whitley County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
