BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Men’s Golf head coach Austin King announced the addition of a transfer who will be them on The Hill next Fall. Rafe Blankenship is a high impact player that will be a valuable asset to the Hilltopper Golf program going forward.

Blakenship, a transfer from Lindsey Wilson College will be looking to make an immediate impact for Coach King’s team in the Fall.

Rafe is a Kentucky native, hailing from Scottsville. He prepped at Allen County Scottsville High School. It was there where he racked up several accomplishments.

Blankenship ended his prep career as a 3rd Region Champion, while being a 3rd Region Player of the Year, which is the same award Lady Topper Nina McMurtrey claimed in 2021. Rafe also earned 2nd Team All-State Honors along with being the Kentucky 2A State Runner-Up.

He would go on to Lindsey Wilson College where his success would continue. Rafe finished his freshman campaign with four individual top 10 finishes out of the nine regular season tournaments the team played. Rafe’s highest finish would come at the Men’s Phoenix Invitational where he finished sixth after posting a 204 total score. Rafe would be a main ingredient to team success at Lindsey Wilson as well as the Blue Raiders would go one to win the Mid-South Conference Championship and eventually finish seventh in the NAIA National Championship.

Coach King spoke on the incoming transfer, “I’m very excited about adding Rafe to our team. He’s a competitive and high character kid and an extremely hard worker who has a strong desire to get better and be pushed. His game is very solid and doesn’t have a lot of holes and will be sure to add depth to our team immediately.”

Blankenship is the fourth addition to King’s roster for the upcoming season. In addition to Blankenship, the Tops have added Bowling Green native Reed Richey, Trevor Drew, and Ryan Propes.
