Kids perform acts of kindness to raise money for a playground

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- At Warren County’s newest school, Jennings Creek Elementary, the students are pitching in to fund a new playground. This is done through a campaign called Raise Craze. During the campaign, the kids will be completing acts of kindness for others that will be paid back in donations. The goal is for the kids to complete over 1,000 acts of kindness and to raise over $15,000  to fund the new playground.

Parent Teacher Organization President Jackie Newman said she’s excited for a fundraiser that strays from the norm.

“This is our first year, and we have no funds. Our kids don’t have a playground, and so as a president, I wanted to come up with a fundraiser that would be different than just selling things. I found Raise Craze and was just so excited about the thought of our kids being able to step outside the box,” Newman said

This fundraiser will raise more than funds. It will also encourage students to think of others and to spread good deeds in the entire community.

Newman said Raise Craze is the perfect opportunity to teach the kids the value of good deeds and acts of kindness.

“I love it. Our school is pretty special, it’s so diverse. What a great way to just teach our kids to do things differently. In a time when things are kind of negative in this world to be able to look at their classmates who might look different from them, they might speak different from them, and to still focus on being kind to each other, and I love that this is what we’re kind of starting out the gate with,” Newman said.
