Kids on the Block teaches Bristow students water, bike safety and first aid
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With summer approaching, now is the time to educate kids on the importance of being safe.
Whether that’s in the water, on the roads with bikes and or using first aid in emergency situations.
On Wednesday morning, students at Bristow Elementary School learned just that.
Students received a visit from South Central Kentucky Kids on the Block to learn a variety of safety lessons.
Through skits and puppets, the students learned what to do in the case of an emergency.
The lesson included calling 9-1-1 and using a blanket instead of a bandaid to stop excessive bleeding.
The second lesson was water safety, which included not jumping in to save a friend that’s drowning but instead using a stick or flotation device to pull them out.
Lastly, bike safety touched on never entering the road on wheels without an adult to accompany them.
All lessons designed to keep kids safe.
Amanda Guerra, one of the puppeteers, says that’s their number one priority at Kids on the Block.
Kids on the Block will be at the Faith and Family Night on May 10 during the Hot Rods game in memory of Duston Marlin Long.
Long was a 7-year-old boy who passed away in 2018 due to a road accident involving a car.
