Kentucky’s opioid-overdose death rate drops
There is a bit of good news on Kentucky’s battle against opioid-overdose deaths.
According to a report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kentucky saw a 9.2% drop in opioid-overdose deaths during a 12-month period ending in March 2018.
Nationwide, there was a 3% decline.
Another report from the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center also shows a decline between the last quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018.
One reason for the decline is that opioid-prescription rates fell to its lowest level in a decade last year, nationwide.
