Kentucky works to implement new 15-year-old driver’s permit law

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky’s permit age is changing.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it is working quickly to implement changes now that House Bill 15 is a state law. The law allows 15-year-olds to earn driver’s permits.
KYTC says system upgrades will allow a credential to be issued allowing eligible applicants to take the written permit test. Applicants can make appointments with Kentucky State Police starting on April 2. The cabinet says individuals who made appointments before April 2 will need to reschedule with KSP.
