Kentucky woman who designed 2019 Kentucky Derby poster visits Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Wednesday, the Kentucky woman whose artwork will be displayed all over Churchill Downs during the 145th Run for the Roses visited Bowling Green.

Rhonda McEnroe, an art teacher and studio owner in Owensboro, was selected to create two posters for Derby Week. One poster is for The Oaks, while the other is for the derby itself.

Posters design by Rhonda McEnroe

McEnroe visited Barbara Stewart Interiors in downtown Bowling Green to sign autographs and sell some of her work.

McEnroe is the 22nd artist selected to design a commemorative poster for the Kentucky Derby.

She said she was selected in February 2018 to design this year’s poster, and until just recently, had to keep it a secret from her family and students.

“Now that it’s done and I can see it produced into socks, tote bags, cups and coffee mugs, I get to see my name and the number 22 on there, as well as the paddock from Churchill Downs, it’s just thrilling,” said McEnroe.

You can catch the Kentucky Derby on WNKY NBC 40 on Saturday May 4.
