Kentucky Transportation Cabinet works to finish projects in time for new school year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you’re dropping off or picking up your kids from a couple of local schools in Bowling Green, there are some road changes you need to know about before the first day.
We’ve previously mentioned Rich Pond Elementary’s new left turn lane that has been added… allowing drivers to use a separate lane to turn into the school.
You may have also seen construction on Louisville Road near Bristow Elementary… as the whole area near that school has been reworked.
This new project is adding a new lane to try and make getting in and out of the school a little easier.
“It’s going to help the overall safety and the overall efficiency for those accessing the school, both in and out. The school entrance has been widened to add some capacity, but for those who are wanting to turn left out of the school, you can’t just turn left out of the main entrance anymore. You have to turn right and then get in a left turn lane to make a U-turn,” Wes Watt, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3’s Public Information Officer, says.
Watt says to give yourself a little more time than normal if your kids are attending these two schools, just to make sure you have time to get used to this new layout.
