Kentucky Transportation Cabinet urges people to take caution driving
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet responded to the winter weather the area got last night into this morning.
Wes Watt, spokesman for the cabinet’s district office in Bowling Green, said it was a minor weather event and they did a lot of spot treating in some counties. Watt said in more rural areas and roads, more snow and ice formed and stuck.
The roads became completely clear by mid-morning after the crews were out all night working to make the roads safe. Watt says that even though the weather wasn’t as severe as they expected, he still urges people to proceed with caution while driving.
“Anytime there is a snow and ice event moving through our area, even if it is minor, motorists need to be aware of the forecast, they need to be aware of possible slick spots and adjust driving behavior. So many people wanna ride wide open just like they do during normal conditions, and that’s not a good idea to do that,” said Watt.
