Kentucky ranks fifth-worst in overdose deaths in 2017
FRANKFORT, Ky.- New statistics released by the Center for Disease Control show Kentucky is among the highest in the nation in overdose deaths.
According to that report, drugs killed a record 70,237 people in the U.S. last year.
State statistics in the report are based on overdose deaths per 100,000 people. Kentucky had a death rate of 37.2, above the national average of 21.7.
Kentucky’s death rate ranked fifth-worst in the nation.
