FRANKLIN, Ky.- From Feb. 16th through the 20th, Kentucky Proud will be celebrating Community Supported Agriculture week, highlighting local farms and businesses throughout the commonwealth.

One local farm in Franklin is one of the many Kentucky Proud farms being celebrated.

The Old Mill Farmstead is a family-owned business that recently opened in 2025 and sells meat, beef, eggs, and different crops when they are in season.

While they sell at farmers’ markets in the area, they plan to open an area on the property in the future for people to come purchase products.

The Summers family started by making food for their family before opening for business six months ago.

The business is family-owned, just like their farm, which has been in the family for generations.

“This was my grandfather’s farm. And then my dad helped farm it. And like I said, they had to sell the farm, and then they purchased it shortly after we got married. ” Said Erin Summers, Owner of The Old Mill Farmstead. “Now he and I are getting to farm it alongside his brother and we’re getting to do it with our children, too.” Summers said.
