Kentucky Oaks Survivors Parade continues tradition of honoring breast cancer survivors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the past 11 years, the Kentucky Oaks has held a Survivors Parade before the race is run.
This year, 145 survivors of breast and ovarian cancer paraded around the track at Churchill Downs in honor of the 145th anniversary of the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.
One of the survivors who participated in the walk, Carrie Magers, just finished her last cancer treatment, and spoke about how much participating in this walk, and beating cancer, meant to her.
