Kentucky Museum receives grant that will fund new exhibit
BOWLING GREEN Ky.- On the campus of Western Kentucky University, the Kentucky Museum has received yet another grant, this one known as the Kentucky Local Trust Fund, which will be used to create a new exhibit that will be introduced next year.
The grant totals $1,740, and the exhibit created will bring the museum’s artifacts into classrooms. Museum director Brent Bjorkman said he’s excited about the new possibilities that this grant will bring.
“Students are going to be able to use these artifacts. we want to show that the Kentucky Museum is really an integrative thing,” said Bjorkman.
This grant will also encourage WKU faculty to involve the museum into their curriculum. The Kentucky local history trust fund is actually funded by citizens who choose to donate from their state income tax when they file tax returns. This is the second recent grant announcement from the museum.
Keeping the museum going strong takes a lot of behind the scenes work and funding.
“We’re looking forward to making this a very vibrant exhibit. We can always use more money for different productions and planning. There’s a lot of hands in this, so there are some expenses that we use that we need to have, and this is going to help us augment that,” said Bjorkman.
