LOUISVILLE, Ky. (CNN) – A Kentucky man recently paid off all his debt after winning a $150,000 lottery prize.

Charles Stallard is debt-free for the first time in his life after a life-changing grocery store run last month.

Stallard decided to pick up a lottery ticket while he was checking out at a store in Louisville on Feb. 9.

When he started to scratch off the five-dollar ticket, he saw a “50x” symbol, meaning the listed winning prize would get multiplied by 50.

At best, he figured he’d get his five bucks back.

So, when he scratched off the back of ticket and saw three thousand dollars, he couldn’t believe it.

Stallard decided to use his after-tax $108,000 payout to pay off his house.
