Kentucky legislators to attend special session on pension crisis this Friday
FRANKFORT, Ky.- Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin has announced Monday that he will convene the Kentucky General Assembly into special session, beginning this Friday.
The purpose of the special session is to discuss the financial stress on the state’s regional universities, health departments, domestic violence centers and community health centers, caused by Kentucky’s looming public pension crisis.
A bill that Gov. Bevin publicly introduced two and a half months ago will be debated.
Bevin says the bill has been thoroughly vetted and improved with input from legislators. He says it is the only fiscally responsible plan that provides the state’s regional universities and quasi-governmental agencies with a path to a sustainable future.
