Kentucky legislators mourn loss of “wise friend” following Louisville bank shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday’s mass shooting in Louisville has left lots of heartache in SoKY. One of the victims’ deaths resonates particularly closely with some of our Kentucky legislators.

Governor Andy Beshear expressed his condolences for each of the victims’ families, describing the slain Old National Bank’s senior vice president Thomas Elliott as one of his closest friends.

63-year-old Elliott was known for his tight relationships with Louisville and Kentucky Democratic leaders, including former State Representative Patti Minter.

Minter expressed her sorrow on Twitter, saying it was a privilege to know Tommy, and calling him a wise friend to many.

“Tommy Elliott was everybody’s friend. I mean, he was a quintessential Kentuckian,” said Minter. “He gave to this commonwealth. He gave to philanthropy in Louisville and throughout the state…”

Current updates say Elliott is among the five killed and eight others wounded in the shooting. We’ll update you as we receive more information.
