Kentucky father involved in Amber Alert arrested

SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. – A Kentucky father has been arrested on multiple charges, including custodial interference, following an Amber Alert sent out Tuesday night.

According to a uniform citation, Bradley Price, 61, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky “abducted his 10-year-old daughter,” causing the alert to be sent out shortly before 7:45 p.m.

The uniform citation states shortly after the alert, Price’s vehicle was spotted traveling northbound on Taylorsville Road at Pearce Industrial Boulevard in Shelby County.

A Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputy states he followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at a Walmart parking lot. The deputy states “Price was removed from the vehicle at gunpoint” and his daughter was safely removed.

The uniform citation further states the circumstances that resulted in the Amber Alert included Price failing to show at a family court hearing on Tuesday and that he believed his child would be removed from his custody at the hearing.

Custody was awarded to Child Protective Services, who contacted Price and ordered him to turn over his daughter to their custody, the citation states.

Deputies state Price refused and stated he was staying with a family member in Indiana, prompting CPS to report the child as missing to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, leading to an Amber Alert.

Price admitted to “knowing his parental rights to his daughter had been suspended, and that CPS had custody of his child” and that he “intentionally refused to turn his daughter over to CPS,” according to the uniform citation.

Deputies say when Price was stopped, he had an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle and an expired driver’s license.

Price faces charges of custodial interference, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited and operating a vehicle with an expired operator’s license.

The Kentucky State Police provided an update Tuesday night stating Price’s daughter was found safe.
