Kentucky Down Under extending fundraiser to assist Australia Zoo
HORSE CAVE, Ky.- Kentucky Down Under will continue raising money for animals impacted by the devastating bushfires in Australia.
Earlier this month, the Horse Cave attraction announced it would donate half of its sales in the month of January to Australia Zoo. The zoo and its wildlife hospital, operated by the family of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, is caring for 90,000 animals either injured or displaced by the fires.
According to Kentucky Down Under General Manager Mick McGill, the response from the public has been so outstanding that the owners want to continue raising money. As of Friday, $5,000 has been generated to send to the land down under.
A final decision on when to end the fundraiser has not yet been made.
