Kentucky councilman helps rescue couple during Christmas Day fire

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. – A couple is safe thanks to a quick response during a Christmas Day fire in Lawrenceburg.
According to a social media post by Lawrenceburg Fire and Rescue, the Lawrenceburg Fire Department responded early Christmas morning to a structure fire at a single-family residence.
Upon arrival, crews say flames were coming from the home.
Crews were able to battle the main part of the fire quickly, according to the department. Due to the construction of the home, additional work was needed to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
According to the department, councilman Joe Marshall was on scene and assisted a couple to get out of the home safely before units arrived. No injuries were reported, according to department personnel.
The department further states crews found many belongings and sentimental items owned by the family, including family photos.
The American Red Cross additionally responded to assist with housing and immediate needs of those affected.
Firefighters were assisted on scene by the Lawrenceburg Police Department and Anderson County EMS.
“We are grateful for the quick actions of everyone involved and for the dedication of our firefighters who answered the call on a holiday,” the departments states. “Our thoughts remain with the family as they begin the recovery process.”
