Kentucky Black Caucus making stop in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- One state-wide organization is building strides to ensure growth for everyone.

The Kentucky Black Caucus of local elected officials, also known as KBC- LEO, is coming to the Bowling Green this June.

The Kentucky Black Caucus was created in 1999 to encourage everyone to unite. It did not matter what their economic or educational background was. In doing this, every generation can address certain struggles and learn from one another.

Carlos Bailey, a Bowling Green city commissioner and a general member of KBC-LEO, tells us how the Kentucky Black Caucus builds bridges amongst every generation.

He says, “We look at the past, we look at the present, but we also are looking at the future. We want to see, kind of like where African Americans and minorities go. Where can we learn and how can we improve? One individual may not always have the answers, but if you have many individuals, we can brainstorm and figure out where we can go toward the future.”

People from all over Kentucky will be participating in the panel and open discussion to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. Cierra Waller, the associate director for student success at WKU and general member of the Kentucky Black Caucus, shares who will be participating in this and what the outcome will be.

She says, “Different local elected officials, state representatives come and share the great strides that we, I think it’s just that opportunity to show that, hey, we are here and part of Kentucky, and we have a very strong position. e making in education and law and justice and economic development. ”
