Kasey Webb Wins State Shot Put Title

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thursday, the Edmonson County Wildcat track and field team participated in the state tournament in Lexington, and one member of the team came home with a special medal.

Senior Kasey Webb broke the school record and brought home the first-place prize after throwing 53 feet and 1 inch.
Webb started throwing shot put in his sophomore year and made state the past two seasons, but this year, he finally made it to the top of the ladder.
After missing the early portion of his season with an injury, Webb was able to not only come back and participate, but he dominated, winning in every meet, and his coach shared today how big it was to finish the year on such a high note.

“Super proud of him. You know, Casey deserves all the credit and credit to our throws coach, coach Peger. He’s put in the work. This is all him. You know, I tell kids all the time, I can give you what to do. It’s up to you if you want to do it, you know, to the best of your ability. And Casey has pushed the limits and just kept improving every year,” Edmonson County Track and Field head coach, Brad Meridith said. “So super proud of him and he deserves everything that he’s getting.”

“I hope that we can get some more state champions in the trophy case at Edmonson County. I hope more people come out to throw next year, more people come out to run, jump, anything,” Webb said, “I just want Edmonson County to be a great track and field program.”
