Juvenile charged with murder in death of stepfather
LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A 15-year-old has been arrested following what police say was the stabbing death of his stepfather.
On Monday, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 7 p.m. to Bradley Bend Road in Leitchfield. Police say they received a report that a man had been stabbed in an altercation with his stepson.
Upon arrival, police say they discovered Timothy J. Higdon, 38, on the floor, with open wounds on his torso.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says the alleged perpetrator, a 15-year-old, was also present.
The teen was transported to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
Higdon was taken to U of L Hospital by the Grayson County EMS, where he was pronounced dead at 10:38 p.m. by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The 15-year-old initially faced charges of attempted murder (domestic violence), first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. However, upon the death of Higdon due to his injuries, the attempted murder charge was changed to a murder charge.
Police say the juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.
The investigation remains ongoing. No further details are available at this time.
