Juvenile attacked by dogs, owner cited in Monroe County

GAMALIEL, Ky. – Police say a juvenile was attacked by dogs in Monroe County.

According to a release, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the soccer field in Gamaliel to a report that three dogs attacked a juvenile at 11 am on Wednesday.

MCSO says that when they arrived, EMS and first responders were treating the juvenile victim.

The release states that the Monroe County Sheriff, members of the Sheriff’s Department, Tompkinsville Police Department and community members located the three dogs on a porch of a home on East Main Street that matched the description of the dogs involved in the attack.

MCSO says the dogs ran away and law enforcement tracked them, locating two and euthanizing them.

The third dog has not been located.

Sheriff Dale Ford says he received a call that the third dog belonged to an individual residing on West Main Street.

A deputy responded to the home and knocked on the door several times before the occupant responded.

The occupant of the home allegedly denied owning the dogs before later admitting to owning the dogs.

The occupant of the home was cited with two counts of harboring a vicious animal.

MCSO says further charges are pending.

The identity of the individual has not been released.

The extent of the juvenile’s injuries has not been released.
