BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Returning to Bowling Green on April 12 is the documentary “Jonesville: When Sunflowers Fall.”

The documentary is set to show at the Capitol by the Warren County Public Library at 3 p.m.

The documentary explores Jonesville, a community founded by African American Civil War Veterans, and the reality and costs of going through urban renewal, the library says.

Organizers say the event is free to the public.

According to the library, Jonesville was dismantled in the 1960s to grow and expand Western Kentucky University.

WKU PBS and Kentucky FolkLife Program got Jonesville residents and descendants to speak about the experience of change and give them a platform for their voices. Following the documentary will be a panel discussion led by Barbara Deeb.

Special Guests who will be talking are Alice Gatewood Waddel, Akisa Townsend Eaton, Gary Ransdell, Bavarian Baldwin and David Horace Greer.
