Johnson believes he fills pivotal role for WKU Football

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Saturday, the WKU football team came back to win against Toledo after a lengthy lightning delay.

But before that delay, the Hilltopper offense was struggling to put points on the board, and just before halftime, quarterback Caden Veltkamp connected with Kisean Johnson to break the drought, and eventually start a swing of scoring.

That touchdown marked Johnson’s third of the season and third as a Hilltopper, and after practice on Tuesday, he shared what was going through his head on that drive and how he views his role on the team.

“The whole drive I was telling myself, like when things going were going wrong, I’m telling myself, like, man, you gotta make a play. However it goes, whether there’s a 50-50 ball or there’s a bad ball or there’s a jump ball or there’s a quick slant, anything like you got to make a play,” Johnson said, “and sure enough, I just kept playing, kept playing, being patient, and that play came. After that, we just kept clicking, you know what I’m saying? So, I’d say my role on this team is being a big play threat, you know, however, whenever being a big play threat. You need a big play? Showtime gonna be there.”
