Jackson’s Orchard to celebrate 60 years
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Jackson’s Orchard, nestled in south-central Kentucky, was purchased in the 1960s by Bill and Shirley Jackson and has since become a multi-generational family operation.
Over the years, their three daughters helped run the orchard, and today, their grandson Jonathan Price continues the legacy. With more than 100 acres of land, getting there isn’t always easy — the orchard sits off a remote road that’s hard to stumble upon without clear direction.
Price reflects on the journey, saying the early years were extreme and he also adds that weather challenges and unpredictable seasons have kept the family humble, reminding them that farming always comes with ups and downs. Building the orchard required time and patience — ordering trees, waiting years for crops and investing in equipment and infrastructure.
Despite the hardships, the orchard has evolved through resilience, tradition, and the strong support of the local community.
Jonathan credits south-central Kentucky for the orchard’s success and says he hopes to continue the legacy set by his grandparents and mother’s generation.
On Aug. 9, Jackson’s Orchard and Nursey is celebrating 60 years from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The community is invited to enjoy horse drawn wagon rides at 4:45 p.m., a pop-up petting zoo and door prizes. In addition, fans will be able to submit their favorite Jackson’s Orchard photos to be featured on the 60-year photo memory board.
