Man identified in Sunday interstate death

UPDATE Monday 9:59 am:

The Kentucky State Police have identified the deceased male as Salim L. Bekirov, 51, of Bowling Green and say no foul play is suspected.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police were called to a death investigation on Interstate 65 north under the Scottsville Road overpass Sunday afternoon.

The call came in around 2:30 p.m.  about a dead man near the 22-mile marker.

The interstate remained shut down as of 4:31 p.m. Sunday.

Police have not yet released details of how the person died or where the person came from.

Police have not identified the man.

“We will have to go through our steps of identification depending on what we find, what we are able to collect. We may have to do DNA or fingerprints from there to do identification on the subject. Making identification is the number one priority at this time,” said Kentucky State Trooper Daniel Priddy, spokesman first Post 3.
