International Center of Kentucky seeking donations to prepare for incoming Afghan refugees
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-To prepare for the arrival of Afghan refugees, the International Center of Kentucky is seeking the public’s help in gathering goods.
The International Center of Kentucky in Bowling Green is looking for a wide variety of items to prepare for the 200 refugees. The anticipated date for their arrival is around the end of September.
Everything from clothing, hygiene products, baby items, dishware, and cookware are being taken in, and can be donated at 806 Kenton Street. Monetary donations are also being taken.
Now, a large number of items have already been donated, much to the delight of executive director Albert Mbanfu.
“I’m so delighted. In fact, I’m proud to be a part of this community. Whenever duty calls, they are always there to assist, and they’ve always been by our side. I think the immigrant community is appreciative of that as well,” Mbanfu.
The most urgent needs right now include new furniture, new bedding, and new kitchen items.
