Indoor golf simulation business opens in Cave City
CAVE CITY Ky.-Cave City is home to attractions like Onyx Cave, Mammoth Cave, and Dinosaur World. Recently, a golf simulator business called The Golf Place was added to the mix.
When golfers swing, the golf balls are tracked electronically based on how hard they’re hit. It’s meant to be a way for golfers to stay seasoned rain or shine.
It was opened last November by Clifford Geralds and his wife Sandie. The two took the idea to the Cave City Chamber of Commerce, who agreed a golf simulator course would be a great addition to Cave City’s attractions.
“The thoughts of putting in an indoor golf simulator here in town since we have a lot of tourists in the area, we thought this would be a great location for everything,” Clifford Geralds said.
After three months of operation, regulars have already been coming frequently.
“It’s a great opportunity to play different courses around the world. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far,” said golfer Bart Roberts.
The winter season can affect if golfers keep practicing. The course has seen other Kentucky school golf teams come to make sure their skills are always up to par.
“It’s really accurate, and they can download courses, so it’s like you’re actually playing golf,” said Taylor County golf team member Charles Cox.
“It’s definitely a good way to stay lose and keep swinging,” added Hart County golf team member Austin Riordan.
With an already successful venture, Geralds said he hit a hole in one with this business.
“It’s a blessing to be able to help the community. What I’m wanting to see is local golf kids here,” Geralds said.
The Geralds said they hope to soon build a putt-putt course for kids behind the current building.
