Identity of soldier killed in Fort Campbell helicopter crash released

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – The identity of a Fort Campbell soldier who was killed in a helicopter training accident on June 11.

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Public Affairs says Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dustin K.Wright, 40, was piloting an AH-64 Apache helicopter during a training when it crashed.

Wright sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Fort Campbell Emergency Medical Services at 6:45 pm.

Another pilot in the helicopter sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The pilot was released on the evening of June 11.

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Public Affairs says Wright joined the Army in 2010 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in May 2022.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
