ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mike Trout says he broke down when he heard longtime teammate and mentor Albert Pujols was leaving the Los Angeles Angels. The fellow three-time league MVPs had been together since 2012, when Trout was in his AL Rookie of the Year season and Pujols had just arrived in Anaheim on a 10-year free agent contract. The Angels designated Pujols for assignment on Wednesday after he expressed his disappointment about the prospect of not playing every day for the Halos. Trout is off to a spectacular start to the current season, but he’s still stunned by Pujols’ departure.
