Thanks to COVID, Spieth gets a longer break than he wanted

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jordan Spieth returns to competition after four weeks off following the Masters. That wasn’t the plan. Testing positive for the coronavirus wasn’t part of the plan, either. Spieth says he felt symptoms the second week after the Masters. That kept him from playing the Valspar Championship, a tournament he has won. He says he’ll be knocking off a little rust at he AT&T Byron Nelson this week. That starts a stretch of four straight tournaments. Hideki Matsuyama is in the field in Dallas. He went home to Japan after winning the Masters. Matsuyama already is thinking about the Masters menu.
