Teacher plans solo trip sailing the length of the Ohio River

PITTSBURGH — Every summer, Dennis Simpson, 66, of Elizabethtown, Ohio, takes on a challenge that tests his endurance — and this summer of COVID-19, he is solo sailing the length of the Ohio River, from its beginning at Pittsburgh’s Point to Cairo, Illinois, where it flows into the Mississippi River. “I’ll be socially distanced,” he said with a smile before heading out on an adventure that he expects to complete in 20 days.
