Syracuse’s heart: PG, cancer survivor Tiana Mangakahia

Syracuse point guard Tiana Mangakahia is back leading the nation in assists per game as her final year in college winds down. The 25-year-old Australian star sat out last season recovering from breast cancer and has made an impressive comeback in a season made even tougher by COVID-19. The Orange had five games postponed or canceled and have had two spurts of four games in eight days. Mangakahia is averaging 7.7 assists to lead the nation, and during one four-game stretch in January had assist totals of 10, 13, 11, and 10. She’s also averaging just over 31 minutes, second on the team.
