Spieth, Garcia open with 63s at Colonial; Mickelson 10 back

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia shared the first-round lead at Colonial after both former champions shot 7-under-par 63. Both were bogey-free at Hogan’s Alley. Phil Mickelson was 10 strokes back after an opening 73. That came only four days after the 50-year-old Mickelson won the PGA Championship to become the oldest winner of a golf major. Spieth played in the same group with Mickelson in the morning round. Garcia finished the afternoon round with a 15-foot birdie attempt that circled the edge of the cup without falling in.
