Simone says: Olympic champ pushes for change in, out of pool

Olympic swimming champion Simone Manuel is pushing herself in the pool to prepare for the delayed Tokyo Olympics. Outside of it, she’s focused on making the predominantly white sport more racially inclusive and using her profile to draw attention to social justice issues. Manuel won the 100-meter freestyle in her return to national competition for the first time during the coronavirus pandemic. She finished first in 54.62 seconds at the TYR Pro Swim Series in her home state of Texas.
