Repilov wins luge title, without Russian flag and anthem
KONIGSSEE, Germany (AP) — Russia’s Roman Repilov has won his second consecutive men’s luge world championship. He overtook World Cup champion Felix Loch in the second heat to successfully defend the title Saturday in Germany. Chris Mazdzer was the top U.S. finisher, placing 10th. Russia’s flag and anthem were not part of the medal ceremony for Repilov because of sanctions levied against the country after a doping scandal. In doubles, the German team of Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken won their fourth consecutive world title.
