Serena Williams agrees with everyone else that her footwork and movement are better these days than they’ve been for a bit. She also acknowledges that is a big reason that she is closing in on what would be a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title. Williams’ ability to cover the court quickly could be important for her next match. She plays three-time major champion Naomi Osaka in the Australian Open semifinals Thursday. Williams’ coach thinks it’s been two or three years that her movement has been below par. But it is once again an asset, in part because she is no longer troubled by her left Achilles.
