Olympic runner Taplin banned 4 years for evading test

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Olympic runner Bralon Taplin has lost his appeal against a four-year ban for dodging a doping test. He will miss next year’s Tokyo Games and the track world championships in 2022 and 2023. Taplin failed to give a doping sample after winning a 400-meter race in Grenada in April 2019. The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it found Taplin’s explanation “to be implausible” that he was never approached or chaperoned to give the sample. The court says Taplin then left the stadium and took an early flight home the next day. The 28-year-old runner competes for Grenada and has been banned until September 2023.
