Kentucky National Guard soldiers to help in Louisiana

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Officials say nearly 100 Kentucky National Guard soldiers are deploying to Louisiana to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Ida. A statement from the Kentucky Army National Guard says the 617th Military Police Company from Richmond is expected to arrive in Louisiana by Sept. 4 and will aid in civil support and relief efforts in the coming weeks. Troops are being dispatched in response to a request made by Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Adjutant General Keith Waddell. Kentucky’s adjutant general says troops are ready to support Louisiana and its residents in their time of need.
