BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear has reiterated his promise to seek federal disaster relief for Kentucky counties damaged by heavy flooding this week. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports, Beshear flew over several flooded counties in a National Guard helicopter on Friday. Stopping in Beattyville to speak with local officials, he called it “the worst flash-flooding that I’ve seen in my lifetime.” Beshear said it could take weeks to get a full assessment of the damage. He said the state will seek federal assistance to rebuild infrastructure as well as individual assistance for homeowners.
