France’s Macron wants closer ties with Poland on EU

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron says he wants closer ties with Poland in shaping the European Union without Britain, in European security and relations with Russia. Following talks with Poland’s president in Warsaw Monday, he called for trilateral talks soon between Poland, France and Germany on the EU’s future. He also expressed concerns over changes Poland’s right-wing government is making to the judiciary. Macron said he hopes his two-day visit will become a “turning point” bringing the two nations closer. Macron is also to meet Poland’s prime minister and foreign minister. He will also visit the southern city of Krakow.
