France accuses Turkey of violating UN arms embargo on Libya

BRUSSELS (AP) — France is accusing Turkey of repeatedly violating the U.N. arms embargo on conflict-torn Libya and says Ankara is an obstacle to peace. The embargo is being enforced by an EU naval operation, but Turkey thinks it’s too one-sided against the government in Tripoli, which Ankara supports. France says Turkey is hindering efforts to secure a ceasefire in Libya and even of hostile action against its NATO allies. Turkey is a NATO member but its quest to join the EU has stalled. The EU is seeking NATO help for its naval effort but diplomats and officials say Turkey is likely to block the move.
