Ex-convict helps neighbors cope in Morocco virus lockdown
RABAT, Morocco (AP) — When Noureddine Elmihnida came out of prison after a past of crime and drugs, he wanted more than a fresh start. He wanted to make up for his dubious past. He had lost the respect of his Moroccan community, his parents and his friends. He and other ex-convicts founded an initiative aimed at leaving a positive mark by beautifying their rundown neighborhood by painting streets, cleaning and planting. And now they’re turning their good works toward helping people struggling amid the coronavirus lockdown. They bring food and medicine to the sick and elderly who can’t leave their homes.
