WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump turned to a diverse collection of his allies to make his case for reelection on the second night of the Republicans’ scaled-down national convention. His family, swing-state farmers and even a convicted bank robber cast the president as the best hope for America’s future Tuesday night as Republicans relied on the trappings of the presidency to boost him. First lady Melania Trump was the featured speaker as the GOP worked reintroduce the president to the American electorate in the midst of the campaign and the pandemic. Early ratings indicate the first night’s viewership was down from the Democrats’ opening night.
