AP Was There: Murray ends Britain’s 77-year Wimbledon wait

Tennis history is filled with wonderful rivalries. And so many of those head-to-head matchups are remembered because of Wimbledon finals involving those two players. The Associated Press is republishing stories about a handful of such matches at the All England Club when the grass-court Grand Slam tournament was supposed to be held. One memorable tennis rivalry involves Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. They have faced each other in seven Grand Slam finals. The most famous meeting came on July 7, 2013, when Murray beat Djokovic to give Britain its first men’s champion at Wimbledon in 77 years.
