AP Interview: Udinese and Watford owners wary of restart
ROME (AP) — The Pozzo family that owns Udinese and Watford is wary of restarting Serie A and the Premier League too soon amid the coronavirus pandemic. Gianpaolo Pozzo tells The Associated Press in an interview that teams need a month of full-squad training before resuming games in order to avoid players getting injured. He also says “the conditions are not right yet” for considering restart plans in England. He discusses the family’s strategy of shuffling players back and forth between its two clubs. Pozzo is the longest-serving owner in Serie A. He says that “means that I’m old.”
