9-year-old Kentucky boy fatally shot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) —  Officials say a 9-year-old Kentucky boy has died after being shot in a home. Louisville Metro Police Officer Corey Robinson told news outlets that officers responded late Wednesday to a report of gunfire at a residence and found it empty. He said officers then learned a child had been taken to the hospital before first responders arrived. The child was identified Thursday by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Jayden Harris. A statement from the office says the boy died of a gunshot wound and classified the death as a homicide. Police haven’t described the circumstances that led to the shooting, which is still under investigation.
