2 Benfica players injured when bus hit with rocks

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Two Benfica players were treated for injuries after rocks were thrown at the Portuguese club’s bus on a motorway following a 0-0 draw with Tondela. Benfica says German midfielder Julian Weigl and Serbian winger Andrija Zivkovic were struck by glass shrapnel when the bus was stoned on the A2 motorway on Thursday. Both players on Friday posted the same photograph of themselves giving the thumbs-up sign. The Instagram photo shows a bandage covering Zivkovic’s right eye. The team was traveling from the Stadium of Light to its training complex. Weigl says “real Benfica fans” wouldn’t have done it.
